I just love my new camera. It makes great pictures, it looks nice.
Ones you learn how to use it - it is very easy. All the accessories are very nice addition.
You just hold everything and even more in one bag. Cameta and Amazon were on top.

This D60 Outfit kit came with awesome accessories at a low price. I found many of the bonus items as a necessity such as the carrying case, extra battery,& memory card. I would recommend this camera for anyone.

Nikon D60 = A Dream Come True !!May 09, 2009
I want to clear this out of the way first, before I get into the actual review itself : I am, by no means whatsoever, a professional photographer. This review is based on my personal experiences with this camera and its features. If you are looking for a more professional standpoint, I highly recommend you to visit the site dpreview . com (without spaces)
If you are just starting to take photography seriously and don't know what kind of SLR you should go for, the D60 is an excellent choice for the entry-level DSLR user.
This camera aims to please everyone, even the most jaded DSLR camera owner would be pleased with this. I've come across people who have been using SLR cameras for years, and they all praise this camera.
The good :
* The kit lens, although it doesn't zoom very far, is excellent for extreme close-up/macro photography. You do not get the highly coveted 1:1 ratio, but still ... It is what it is, and it's not a bad lens at all.
* Is capable of taking some rather amazing long-exposure photographs in either bulb mode, or just simply slowing down your shutter speed.
* For DSLR newcomers, the auto modes on this camera still have a whole slew of options where you have a lot more control over your finished results than a point-n-shoot's auto functions.
* Camera is very easy to focus, and the vibration reduction mode actually does prevent your images from being blurred. A few weeks back, I was a passenger in my mom's car and was trying out the camera to see how it would do in that setting, with my mom driving down the highway. The images turned out crystal clear, and I was in awe when I saw the results. So many cameras claim to have such an amazing VR/IS function, yet so few of them are any good.
* Speaking of which, even someone with really bad nerves can still take photos freehand without resorting to a tripod whatsoever.
* You have a very wide ISO range to choose from, and images rarely turn out grainy, even with long-exposure photography. Just set the noise reduction feature on, and you're good to go !!
* Exposure compensation goes all the way from -5 to +5, and this is perfect for those who love to make HDRi images.
* Literally, hundreds of white balance options. You can customise the settings of each one using the colour palette for each one, so there's no excuse now for your photos to have improper white balance.
* The F-Mount is made of metal and not plastic, which is essential for those of us who like to carry multiple lenses with us to our photo shoots. With that said, the lens stays snug and secure with the lock button to hold it in place. Lenses easily come on and off, which is another major plus.
* As opposed to just buying this camera from Nikon, you should get this kit from Cameta Camera. It has everything you need to get you started, including a back-up battery, Memory card reader a microfiber cloth and a very nice Nikon carry-all bag for your camera and everything included in this kit. Not to mention, this camera kit will save you loads of $$$ and is convenient for those of us that don't have the time to shop around for these extra things.
* Incredibly lightweight and easy to handle. Will feel comfortable in your hands. They don't call this the smallest DSLR for nothing ! :)
* Battery life is incredible, and the writing speed of image data to a memory card is a lot faster than other cameras.
* There's tons more wonderful features that this camera has to offer, but I'm not going to list them all and let you see for yourself how great this camera is.
The bad :
* Camera body is made of plastic, which doesn't really bother me. I only mention it because most DSLR users prefer their cameras to not be made of plastic.
* P,A,S, and M modes can be a bit annoying at times, if you're just starting out with a DSLR.
* The camera's user manual can be a bit difficult to understand in some instances.
* If you want to pursue IR photography, I'd get an older Nikon DSLR model. Unless you have a lot of time and patience, this really isn't even worth anything in the IR photography department.
* No stitch assistant, meaning the camera will not help you to take panoramic photos. You have to do it on your own and use your instincts.
* The constant firing of the flash can get extremely annoying, especially if you're trying to take photos in a low-light setting without a flash. Even if you shut your built-in flash, it'll still pop open from time to time.
* Kit lens cannot zoom too far away, so you should look into purchasing another additional lens. I highly recommend the Sigma 70-300mm Macro lens, which isn't really all that great for macros, but that's another review that I'll write soon, so check my other reviews often.
The ugly :
* Despite the price being very reasonable for this type of camera, you're going to end up buying a lot of nifty, expensive lenses and toys for this camera like I am !! :)
In conclusion, this camera is basically your newborn child. Take care of it, and keep buying it little toys, filters and lenses to improve the quality of your photography. Variety is the spice of life, and once you get this kind of camera, it's hard to imagine yourself ever picking up a chintzy point-n-shoot again. Once you've tasted what this camera has to offer, you will surely see that every hard-earned cent that you've put into your new camera is worth every penny.
This is an investment, and if you're taking photography seriously, it's time to put down that toy point-n-shoot camera and pick up a real one.
Also, when out in public using this camera, you'll be surprised at the people that stop and ask you if you're a pro and ask you to shoot photos of their wedding or their bands performing live !!
I sound like an infomercial, but what are you waiting for ? GET THIS KIT ALREADY !!! This kit has everything you need to start out with, all for a very reasonable price.
If you purchased this camera and all of the accessories separately, you'd probably spend at least a grand.
