4works fine--- lasts long timeNov 07, 2009

works fine lasts long time-------- I hope

4Excellent for runningNov 07, 2009
I like it, it's easy to use but I have some issues that can be improve:
1. The time for synch with satellites, it takes 2 minutes
2. Some times the instant pace has bad readings. When I run at the same pace with one buddy who has the same monitor model, it has different readings at certain moments. It's like for 1 or 2 seconds was un-synch with satellites.
3. I have problems with the software, I couldn't connect it with my PC. Some people recommend me Sports tracks. I install it and I could download my trainings.
4. When I use it in interior or at the gym, the calories aren't calculated. I don't know why.

In general it's a good monitor and I like it

5Works as advertisedNov 07, 2009
Worked as expected. It took me a few runs to take advantage of all the capabilities but it was a pretty steep learning curve. I like using this and the accuracy is spot on!

4Only wish software did more..Nov 05, 2009
So far so good. I've had the 101 before and it is interesting to have the heart rate monitor. My only wish is that the software that came with it did more. Basically list out what is already recorded on the unit itself. I would have liked bar charts or graphs. By month, year to date etc. This just has each day and a grand total.. Not a biggie. The unit works just fine...

5It's got it allNov 05, 2009
Being a novice runner, the Garmin Forerunner 305 is my first running watch ever.
I decided to buy the 305 rather than the 405 after reading reviews that complain about the bezel operation of the new model. I was a little concerned about the 305's size, but as I started using it, it proved to be lightweight and very comfortable. The large screen is actually a big plus, since you can split the display to 4 different types of data at once, at a convenient font size.
What I like the most in the Forerunner 305:
1. very high fidelity of the GPS reading, with very short acquisition time.
2. the ability to configure the display screens to include the data you want to see.
3. connectivity via the Garmin Connect site and Google Earth.
4. data analysis options using the included Garmin software.
What I like the least:
1. direct data entry to the device (such as target distance, pace, etc.) is cumbersome.
2. the HR monitor strap is a little too heavy and rigid.
The bottom line is that the 305 delivers everything that it promises. It's a very useful aid in setting training goals and tracking them. At its price level ($150), it's also a great value on the money.
