1does not work!Jul 02, 2009
I have an ASUS Mypal A696 pda with built in GPS. I ordered the Garmin Mobile XT from garmin.com because I hate the destinator software that came with my pda. the software installed fine, but when i started the program it would only search for gps reciever via bluetooth or attachments, no internal searches. It finally gives me the option to search for another gps device and when I click "yes" it gives me the error message "connection allowed to garmin GPS device only" Contacted garmin with no help. I would not reccommend this product!

3Good Product But Had Old MapsMar 21, 2009
The Garmin XT overall is a very good product. It loads easily and worked fine on my old Dell x50v PDA and my Verizon Omnia smartphone with external GPS. I have an old Pharis 360 bluetooth GPS receiver. I would have given it a higher rating, but it did not have the latest 2009 maps which seemed to be 2007 vintage at best. I would caution people to find out what version of maps are on this product when they buy it. No where did it say what vintage the maps were and there is no legal way to upgrade to the latest maps on this product without buying another one with newer maps.

1Only works with SD card it comes onMar 07, 2009
The software itself works great, but you need to be aware that it doesn't work unless you have the SD card it comes on in your device. You cannot install it to a larger SD card or copy the files. It is tied directly to the card itself. Had I known this from the start I would not have purchased this software. My phone is a Samsung Omnia so installing an SD card required removing the battery. I don't consider this an option since I also have my music on a 16GB SD card that I keep in the phone.

If you can live with using only their SD card in your phone this will work fine for you but in my case this was the worst possible design. There are other methods they could have used to prevent piracy of their software.

4Works well in my TouchPro, but ...Feb 22, 2009
Just wish I didn't have to search the internet for a utility that would allow me to move everything to a larger memory card. Would gladly have paid a bit more if they had provided an 8GB card, rather than a 2GB card.

4Excellent product, short on one important feature, though.Feb 14, 2009
Have a VZW xv6800 PDA SmartPhone and added the Garmin XT Nav software to be able to have voice directions when traveling. Phone can capably navigate and use other services, such as Points of Interest, find restaurants, services, etc., using Google Maps and/or Windows Live, however, there was no voice support for traveling directions.

This Garmin XT software was a breeze to install - just pop in the mini-SD card, say "yes" to install, and you're up and running in seconds. Ease of use and intuitive software make it simple to use. If you have a data plan on your SmartPhone it also can easily and capably find POI's and other services, etc., just as good as Google and MSW Live.

The one down side, which I find silly as well as annoying, is that Garmin forces you to use their mini-SD card (2GB) in a propietary way, thus if you want to listen to music from your device while navigating you're closed-out from doing so. Yes, I have read and seen the "work-arounds" but I have found them difficult to follow the instructions and get it right in order to successfully transfer (and use) the XT on to another, larger mini-SD card so the Nav and music, etc, are all on the same card. Garmin needs to listen to their customers and provide their Nav on a larger card so that data, music, etc. can be added to it eliminating the need to switch-out cards when you want to Nav.

Good value, though, and worth it.
